Her mother was Cynthia Louise Bissett vice president of mobile company Verizon. Her father was businessman Joseph Anthony Germanotta Jr. Director of an Internet-based network business. She was raised in an luxurious Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan by a Catholic family. For this reason her parents put her into the Convent of the Sacred Heart a religious and elitist school. Music was her passion since childhood. The first time she played the piano when she was an infant. At thirteen she wrote her first song. She performed at open mic nights. Her top artists of choice were David Bowie, Madonna and Queen Michael Jackson. When she graduated from high school she enrolled at the New York University's Tisch School of Art to study music. But, following high school she chose to pursue a musical career and abandoned her studies.
